IGBC Health & Wellbeing Rating
The objective of the rating is to facilitate the buildings to incorporate people centric measures for enhancing the health & well-being. The framework will enable organisations to address various aspects such as indoor air quality, water quality, hygiene parameters, healthy food choices and lifestyle.
The rating strive to reach out the concepts of healthy building through 'Whole Body Mind' approach. The entire rating revolves around the concept of Built Environment, Health & Well-being. IGBC Health & Well-being rating for occupants addresses various features under three main aspects of health & well-being: Physical, Emotional & Intellectual and Social.
Body Mind Approach- Core Concept of rating
World Health Organisation (WHO) highlights the importance of Wellness and defines 'Health as a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity'. Wellness is an extremely powerful element that can play a significant role in occupant engagement, productivity, talent retention, creativity and innovation
How people 'function' and 'feel' within personal and social circles strongly reflects the kind of environment they live in. The way people 'function' reflect their connection with their surroundings. Therefore, the built environment plays a vital role in health & well-being of the occupants and should be closely knitted with people centric design.
The occupants perceive the built environment through their five senses- Smell, Taste, Sight, Touch and Sound. The five elements of nature- Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Ether, which make up the built environment, affect physical, emotional & intellectual and social well-being of the occupants through these five senses. Health and physical well-being of the occupants can be enhanced by improving the features of the built environment.
A holistic 'Whole Body Mind' approach links the Health & Well-being with the five senses through which the occupants perceive the built environment. It focusses on treating a person as a whole including his/her body and mind. The whole body and mind approach addresses physical body function, ability to recognise emotion, think and communicate.
Elements of Health & Well-being
Health and Well-being of an individual is addressed holistically only when the following aspects have been taken care:

- Emotional - Ability to recognise
- Intellectual - Ability to think and
- Social - Ability to communicate
The above aspects play a vital role in enhancing the health and well-being of an individual occupant in a building and hence the overall quality of life.

Scope
The IGBC Health & Well-being Rating is designed to certify new buildings and existing buildings of all commercial and residential developments. To facilitate wider implementation, the rating system is made simple, practical and easily implementable. All related communicable and non-communicable diseases for various measures have also been considered. The IGBC Health & Well-being Rating is applicable for buildings which are occupied and in operation for at least 1 year

Certification Fee for Commercial Projects which are registered / certified under any other IGBC Green Building Rating (non-residential) - w.e.f. 1 November, 2021
Such projects would be eligible for the following discount on above fee structure (however, separate project registration under IGBC Health and Well-being Rating has to be carried out):
- 20% discount on certification fee for projects with built up area up to 20,000 sq m
- 30% discount on certification fee for projects with built up area up ranging from 20,001 sq m to 50,000 sq m
- 30% discount on certification fee for projects with built up area up ranging from 20,001 sq m to 50,000 sq m
- Parking areas need not be considered as part of the built-up area
- Fee is exclusive of Goods and Services Tax (GST)
- Registration, Precertification and Certification fee are non-refundable
- Membership discounts can be availed only if the Project Owner or Developer is a member of IGBC
